WE HELP PEOPLE...
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul began in Paris, France, in 1833 when a young law student at the Sorbonne, Frederic Ozanam, was challenged during a debate to demonstrate what he and his fellow Catholic students were personally doing to help the poor in Paris.

Today there is an international structure of 700,000 volunteers in 142 countries with more than 4,055 active Conferences in the United States. Our world wide mission is to help the needy in countless ways, primarily through one-on-one contact of volunteers with individuals and families. We accomplish this mission through our Home Visitation Program and through our Special Works projects conducted at the Council level of our organization.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Southwest Idaho District Council is comprised of 496 volunteers who, in 2008, volunteered 17,976 hours in service to 41,928 of our neighbors in need.
