Parish Conferences... Conferences are parish based groups of lay volunteers, known as Vincentians, that provide direct services and referrals to poor and needy individuals and families. Linked by the Mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, there are Conferences operating throughout the world. These groups vary in size and consist of people putting their faith into action by responding to the needs of people in their local community, regardless of ethnic or religious background. Vincentians are personally involved in helping the poor in their communities. The Conference is the basic unit of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and this is where the strength of the Society lies. Conference members value the special "treasure" that we have as Society members. Conference members join together in a bond of friendship, and grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering, in the tradition of our founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam. The three goals of a Conference are the spiritual growth of the members, developing solidarity among the members and with those in need, and serving people with compassion, generosity, and respect. Vincentians know that service to our brothers and sisters in need is, in fact, an encounter with Christ, and are keenly aware that poverty, suffering and loneliness are present for countless numbers of individuals in our community. |

The poor are hungry not only for food, they are hungry to be recognized as human beings.
They are hungry for dignity and to be treated as we are treated. They are hungry for our love. Mother Teresa |
