Friends of the Poor Walk...

We are very excited for the return of the "Friends of the Poor Walk" to our community. However, WE NEED YOU! to make this year's Walk a success. Last year, The Frinds of the Poor Walk raised more than $1.2 million with 158 walk locations nationwide. More than 16,000 walkers, representing 409 Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conferences and Councils in 36 states, participated in the 2009 Friends of the Poor Walk.

Here in Boise, the Friends of the Poor Walk will be held September 26th, 12-4 PM at Julia Davis Park. The Walk is an easy 5k along Boise's beautiful Greenbelt and we are inviting ALL to participate as walkers, volunteers, sponsors, or all three. The Friends of the Poor Walk is a fun way to support the Society and to encourage others to join in the spirit of giving and show the poor in our community that we really do care about them. All funds raised will be used in direct service to the poor. Pledges made on behalf of registered walkers in our community will benefit those most in need in our community.

Come on out, Walk A Mile in someone else's shoes and become a friend of the poor. To register as a walker on line:

• Simply click here for the national sign-up web site.
• Click in the Search Box and type 'District Council of Southwest Idaho'.
• Click in the radio button '270 - District Council of Southwest Idaho'.
• Scroll down, fill out the form, and submit.
