Prescription Assistance Program

The Prescription Assistance Program assists our neighbors in need obtain medication they are unable to afford. The cost of medication, particularly medication for long term or chronic conditions, can be very expensive. Without health insurance many are unable to get their prescription medication. No one should have to choose between much needed medication and other important necessities of life.

The Prescription Assistance Program knows that many pharmaceutical companies provide medications free of charge to those who meet certain qualifications. Each pharmaceutical company has its own set of criteria that applicants must meet to qualify for their programs.

Since 2001, the Prescription Assistance Program has been here to help navigate through each pharmaceutical company's process for acceptance. We collect the required information from each client and work directly with the Pharmaceutical Companies. Our staff and volunteers work with each client individually always mindful of the privacy each client is entitled to.

Application materials and enrollment in the Prescription Assistance Program are free. We do not charge any fees associated with obtaining, completing or submitting an enrollment application.

Some of the criteria required for this program are:

  • Must not have private health insurance or Medicaid;
  • Must meet specific financial criteria;
  • Must be under the care of a licensed prescriber, such as a physician, nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist.

If you, or someone you know, needs the assistance the Prescription Assistance Program offers, you may contact us at (208) 344-9737, Tuesday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, or Thursday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM or fill out the Contact Form below and submit.

A big thank you to 6 On Your Side - Idaho for coming out to visit our annual reentry resource fair! In addition to the work we do every week, once a year we get together with all of our friends in the community who are working to support returning citizens and host a fair, showcasing these good works!

The Idaho Department of Correction hosted a resource fair this week, aiming to foster safer communities by giving newly released offenders the resources they need to stay out of crime. 6 On Your Side's Madeline White introduces us to one ex-offender who plans to do just that. https://buff.ly/2I1gMM7

A small part of what we do is share what we have learned here in Southwest Idaho with a larger audience. This way, other St. Vincent de Paul organizations around the country can benefit from the lessons we have learned and we can also take home their ideas. This enables us to give more people in the community an even better hand up!
