The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Southwest Idaho District Council, Inc. is a nonprofit organization providing a unique style of personal assistance with food, clothing, rent, utilities and companionship to people facing economic, emotional or spiritual crises.
In 2016, we distributed $973,680 worth of food to feed 29,847 people, 2,087 Thanksgiving food boxes to feed 9,495 people and 14,203 dinners through our Community Suppers. We also supplied $292,016 worth of vouchers for clothing and household needs, another $48,801 in vouchers for the Christmas Toy Store and disbursed $739,221 in prescriptions for the uninsured. As a private, nonprofit charity, the Society relies on private individuals and local businesses and organizations for support.
Everything St. Vincent de Paul does is motivated by a sense of compassion for those struggling with poverty, loneliness, illness, family problems and many other difficulties. The Vincentian spirit inspires us to action, sustains our commitment and challenges us to become more like Christ. Every encounter with our fellow man is an opportunity to share our Vincentian spirit.
